Indica and Sativa

These terms carry botanical, historical and commercial meanings. A study of more than a hundred samples found that commercial Indica/Sativa labels poorly capture overall genetic and chemical variation. A label does not establish precise ancestry or predictable effects.

What does hybrid mean?

Hybrid suggests a cross but remains imprecise without documented parents and generations. Fixed ancestry percentages should not appear genetically verified when they are simply part of a trade description.

Name, chemotype and lineage

A name is a designation; a chemotype describes chemical composition; lineage describes parent lines. These dimensions are connected but not interchangeable. Our future database will record them separately, with sources and openly identified gaps.
